Ange Postecoglou Named Head Coach Of Al-Nassr Following Title-Winning Season

Ange Postecoglou has been appointed Al-Nassr’s new head coach on a two-year contract, taking charge of the Saudi Pro League champions after Jorge Jesus left at the end of the 2025-26 season, despite delivering the club’s first league title in seven years.

Al-Nassr, led on the pitch by Cristiano Ronaldo and based in Riyadh, acted swiftly after Jesus departed, confirming Postecoglou as the preferred option to guide the squad that reclaimed the domestic crown and is again targeting major honours at home and in Asia.

Postecoglou returns to club management for the first time since a short spell with Nottingham Forest, which ended in October 2025 after only 39 days in charge, the briefest reign for any permanent Premier League manager departing mid-season, and a run that brought no wins.

Before that, Postecoglou built a strong reputation in Europe, winning five major trophies in two seasons with Celtic, then moving to Tottenham, where lifting the Europa League in 2025 ended a 17-year wait for a trophy, while interest also emerged in Postecoglou for the then-vacant Scotland post.

Postecoglou’s first competitive match with Al-Nassr is scheduled against Diriyah in the King Cup of Champions next month, providing an early examination of tactical ideas and squad balance around Cristiano Ronaldo, as the club looks to extend recent league success under new technical leadership.

The appointment highlights Al-Nassr’s intent to maintain momentum after the 2025-26 title, combining a squad featuring Ronaldo with a coach who has delivered trophies at Celtic and Tottenham, while the experience at Nottingham Forest underlines the scrutiny Postecoglou will face in Saudi Arabia’s leading league.
