Asian Games 2026: Manush Shah, Diya Chitale win Bronze Medal as India confirm hat-trick of Asian Games Medals

Manush Shah and Diya Chitale have secured the Bronze medal at the Asian Games 2026 after a decent outing in the Table Tennis mixed doubles event on Friday (September 25).

The Indian pair started off the day with a quarterfinal victory. Manush Shah and Diya Chitale defeated Hong Kong’s Wong Chun Ting and Doo Hoi Kem 3-1 in the quarterfinals. The victory took the Indian pair into the semifinals and assured India a medal in table tennis.

Manush, Diya lost Semis, but secure Bronze

Manush and Diya had a tough ask in the semis as they took on the mixed doubles’ world ranked 2 Wang and Sun in the semis. The Indian pair fought valiantly but lost in straight sets to rest their case for the Asian Games.

Despite the defeat, the semifinal qualification meant a guaranteed Bronze and thus Manush and Diya will return with a medal in the competition.

India continue their Asian Games Bronze Run

For India, Table Tennis has yielded a medal in the third straight edition of the Asian Games. And interestingly, the colour of the medal has remained Bronze for India, with the fourth one coming across all editions of the game.

In 2018, the Men’s team secured bronze, while the mixed doubles team of Sharath Kamal and Manika Batra secured the same.

In the 2022 Asian Games, the women’s doubles pair Sutirtha Mukherjee and Ayhika Mukherjee won Bronze, and Manush, Diya have continued the tradition for a third edition in a row.
