Batwara 1947 Advance Booking Collection Day 1: Sunny Deol’s upcoming movie Batwara 1947 has been creating waves in the town for several reasons. The movie is period drama film which set in the backdrop of Lahore during the 1947 partition. Also starring Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal, Abhimanyu Singh, Khushi Hajare, and Kanikka Kapur in the lead, Batwara 1947 is based on Asghar Wajahat’s drama Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai. Interestingly, Batwara 1947 marks Preity Zinta return to big screen after 8 years.
Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, Batwara 1947 also marks the director’s reunion with Sunny after 30 years. They had earlier given hits like Ghayal, Damini and Ghatak: Lethal. This isn’t all. Sunny is also collaboration with Preity after 8 years since their last release Bhaiaji Superhit along with his first onscreen collaboration with his son Karan. As Batwara 1947 has been one of the most anticipated releases of the year, the makers have begun the advance booking ahead of the movie’s release.

According to a report published in Sacnilk, Batwara 1947 has been struggling earn Rs 1cr from presales. So far, the movie has earned Rs 87.91lakhs gross with a sale of 31,486 tickets while the movie has earned Rs 2.69cr with block seats
Batwara 1947 vs Border 2 Advance Booking Collection
Interestingly, Batwara 1947 has been facing comparisons with Sunny’s previous theatrical release Border 2. While there have been speculations about how this Rajkumar Santoshi directorial will be able to beat the advance booking collection of Border 2 which happens to be Rs 12.5cr with the sale of Rs 4.09lakh tickets while the collection was Rs 17.5cr with block seats.
Meanwhile, Sunny had revealed that the film was initially offered to him around 16 years ago. “I am not much of reader or writer, so when Raj narrated the subject to me back in 2009-10, it remain stuck with me. Once I like something, I just want to do it. But times were tough then. Since Gadar 2’s release last year, things got better for me and producers came forward. Aamir had read the story and we talked about it. This project did not need finance but passion and to get the story right,” Sunny was quoted saying as per a report in Tribune India.
