Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said the state would take a positive decision on a proposal for its own IPL team.
The remark came on Friday through Choudhary’s X handle. Choudhary responded to a post by Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal, who is from Bihar.

Agarwal asked on X, “Dont you think Bihar deserves a team of its own, just like Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, and Kolkata Knight Riders?\” Agarwal said Bihar has produced many strong cricketers. Agarwal also said it is a dream to help Bihar’s youth get chances to do well in many fields.
Agarwal wrote, “Im fully confident that if our children get the right inspiration and facilities, the team emerging from Bihar will become the best in the world,” and spoke of helping players. Agarwal also pledged unconditional support to push Bihar’s cricket team forward. Agarwal said the time has come for Bihar’s talent to shine on the field.
Choudhary replied with support and pointed to active government work. Choudhary said, “I completely agree with you. For the cricketing emotion of Bihar, the government is working on a mission mode with a clear vision. With your cooperation, a positive decision will certainly be taken regarding Bihars IPL cricket team.”
Bihar IPL team plan backed by Sports Minister
Sports Minister Shreyasi Singh also backed the idea of building Bihar’s IPL team. Singh said, “All of us want Bihars players to get a proper platform and a rightful place where, through good performances, they can boost Bihars repute. At this juncture, this tweet by Anil Agarwal ji is certainly welcome. Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary ji has also supported it,” she told PTI Videos.
Singh said the sports department would try to make the plan happen quickly. Singh also said Bihar is ready to host IPL matches. Singh said, “The infrastructure is ready. To utilise that infrastructure, we are working enthusiastically to prepare our players–not just in cricket, but in other sports as well. Also, if we can host international competitions in rugby, hockey and other sports, then we can certainly host IPL matches as well,” she said.
The exchange on X brought together support from the state leadership and a Bihar-born industrialist. Choudhary spoke of a positive decision on an IPL team proposal. Singh linked the plan to player development and existing facilities. Singh also pointed to past hosting of other sports events as a basis for IPL games.
