Kayla McBride supplied outside shooting for Minnesota, finishing with 19 points and hitting five 3-pointers overall. McBride closed the first half by draining the last of four early triples with 1.1 seconds on the clock, tying the score at 40-40, before the Lynx endured a poor 3-of-16 third quarter and needed their late surge.

Washington’s best response came from Sonia Citron, who led all Mystics scorers with 28 points. Citron shot 9 of 14 from the field and 4 of 5 from beyond the arc, but the Mystics still saw a 65-53 lead with seven minutes remaining slip away under Minnesota’s pressure defence and late execution.

On the West Coast, the Golden State Valkyries ended the Atlanta Dream’s four-game winning streak with a 77-66 victory, giving extra context to the league picture around Caitlin Clark and the Fever. Gabby Williams scored 23 points on 9-of-16 shooting, while Kayla Thornton added 17 points, including five 3-pointers for Golden State.

Cecilia Zandalasini contributed 14 points as the Valkyries opened a two-game set against Atlanta, with the teams scheduled to meet again on Friday night in San Francisco. Rookie Madina Okot led the Dream with 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting, supported by Rhyne Howard’s 12 points and Angel Reese’s double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds, though Reese went just 3 of 12 and missed the first eight attempts.
