Brahmastra 2 Update: Remember when Ayan Mukerji came with his much talked about fantasy action adventure film Brahmastra in 2022? The movie came with a stellar cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy along with special appearances by Shah Rukh Khan and Nagarjuna Akkineni and was said to be the first installment of a planned trilogy titled Astraverse. While the movie grabbed a lot of eyeballs marking Alia and Ranbir’s first project together, fans have been eagerly waiting for Brahmastra 2. And now, we have an exciting update about the cast of Brahmastra 2.
According to recent reports, Deepika Padukone, who is currently working on Raaka with Allu Arjun, will be joining the cast of Brahmastra 2. The reports suggest the movie is set to hit the floors in January 2027 and is expected to be bigger than Brahmastra. While speculations about Deepika being a part of the movie had surfaced in 2022 as well post the movie’s release, a report published in Pinkvilla, Deepika has been approached to play the role of Amruta in the movie and find her a perfect match.
Deepika Padukone To Join Brahmastra 2?
A source stated, “Ayan and the core team are confident about bringing Deepika on board, recognising that the role of Amruta requires an actor with immense gravitas. While discussions are on, official confirmations will depend on overall timeline alignments”. If the reports turned out to be true, this will mark Deepika’s onscreen reunion with Ranbir after over 11 years. They had last shared the screen in 2015 release Tamasha.
Ranbir Kapoor To Have A Double Role
On the other hand, Ranbir Kapoor, who is currently gearing up for the release of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, is excited about Brahmastra 2 wherein he will reportedly be playing a double role. “Ranbir is super excited to embark on this journey again. In a massive dual-role challenge, RK will portray both Dev and Shiva in the sequel,” the source added.
As of now, Deepika, who is expecting her second child this year, is looking forward to the release of Raaka which marks her first collaboration with Allu Arjun. Directed by Atlee, the movie is eyeing a release in December 2027 and will reportedly feature Hollywood actor Will Smith as its lead antagonist.
