Erwin primarily operates as a box striker and is known for his finishing ability and knack for scoring opening goals. His physical strength and aerial ability also make him a threat from set-pieces. The striker joins Mohun Bagan after representing Jordanian club Al-Faisaly last season.

Erwin has extensive experience across European and Asian football. Having represented Scotland at youth level, he has played for several clubs in Scotland and England, including Motherwell, Leeds United and Bury FC. He has also featured for Iranian side Tractor FC, among other clubs, giving him exposure to different styles of football across multiple leagues.

Speaking after completing his move, Erwin said his first opportunity to play in India was a major factor in his decision, while highlighting Mohun Bagan’s stature and history.

“I will be playing in India for the first time. I had offers from quite a few ISL clubs, but Mohun Bagan is the biggest club in the country, so I accepted their offer and decided to come here. My Scottish friends who have played in India have spoken highly of Mohun Bagan Super Giant’s professionalism and philosophy, saying they can match any club in world football,” he said.

He added that the club’s tradition and supporters further influenced his decision to join the Mariners.

“Apart from that, very few clubs can rival Mohun Bagan’s success and rich tradition. The passion, support and love that the members and supporters have for this club were also among the main reasons behind my decision to wear the green-and-maroon jersey. I have been training regularly and hope to settle into the team quickly. I will try to share my experience with my teammates on the pitch and my only goal is to help the team win trophies.”

Mohun Bagan complete Foreigners’ quota

Erwin’s arrival completes Mohun Bagan’s foreigner quota of six players. Before Erwin, Bagan roped in Miguel Figueira from arch rivals East Bengal, and also signed Dejan Drazic and Samir Zeljković. Jamie Maclaren and Alberto Rodriguez also remain in the side from last season.
