“It Feels Amazing!” Deepti Sharma Fulfills ‘Long Lost’ Wimbledon Dream, Compares Novak Djokovic to MS Dhoni

New Delhi, July 3: Indian women’s cricket all-rounder Deepti Sharma revealed in a recent interview that she managed to fulfil a long-standing dream by attending Wimbledon for the first time, describing the visit to the iconic All England Club as a special milestone.

Speaking to JioStar, Deepti also opened up about her admiration for tennis great Novak Djokovic, explaining why she sees similarities between the Serbian legend and former India captain MS Dhoni when it comes to handling pressure.

Deepti Fulfils Longstanding Dream

Deepti said watching Wimbledon live had been a personal ambition for years, having followed the tournament on television throughout her childhood.

My dream was that one day I would come to watch a Wimbledon match, and it feels really good to finally be here. When you have always seen it on TV but today you are seeing it live for the first time, it feels amazing. The atmosphere, the crowd, the energy – everything is different. I am really enjoying watching tennis at Wimbledon. It just feels great.

The Indian all-rounder added that she grew up watching Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal but now follows Djokovic more closely because of his resilience and fighting spirit on court.

Why Did Deepti Compare Djokovic With MS Dhoni?

Deepti highlighted Djokovic’s mental strength as the quality she admires the most and drew a parallel with Dhoni’s calm approach in high-pressure cricket matches.

When you talk about Djokovic, everyone speaks about his mental strength. He is someone who never gives up, no matter how tough the situation is. In cricket, I think MS Dhoni sir is very similar. He is known for being very cool and calm. Whenever pressure situations come, he handles them really well. Both Djokovic and Dhoni have that rare quality of staying calm and strong when it matters the most.

She also revealed that if given the chance to watch Wimbledon with sporting legends, she would choose Sachin Tendulkar, Ravi Shastri, and Sunil Gavaskar, saying it would be a privilege to hear their insights while enjoying one of tennis’ most prestigious tournaments.
