Max Verstappen has dismissed fresh speculation surrounding his Formula 1 future, insisting he remains focused on helping Red Bull improve its car rather than discussing a potential move away from the team.
The four-time world champion addressed repeated questions about his long-term plans ahead of this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix but stopped short of offering any guarantees beyond his current focus.

What did Max Verstappen say?
Verstappen maintained that there is no ongoing discussion regarding his future despite continued speculation linking him with a move elsewhere.
“I feel good and from my side what I’m saying-that there’s nothing to say-is because there’s nothing going on.”
The Dutchman said his priority remains extracting the maximum performance from Red Bull’s car.
“For me, I am just focused on trying to get the most from the car and that’s already complicated enough to deal with.”
“That’s what I’m doing. This team is like a second family to me and of course I want to understand our car a bit better and get back to winning.”
Why is Max Verstappen future being discussed?
Speculation has continued throughout the season because Verstappen is reportedly believed to have a performance-related clause in his Red Bull contract.
The clause is understood to give him an option to leave if Red Bull are no longer competitive enough to challenge for championships.
However, the current driver market offers few obvious alternatives.
Mercedes, Ferrari and McLaren have all publicly backed their existing driver line-ups, leaving limited opportunities for a switch in 2027.
How has Red Bull performed this season?
Red Bull have struggled to match Mercedes and Ferrari consistently under Formula 1’s new regulations.
Verstappen currently sits seventh in the drivers’ championship but believes the team is making progress.
“We’re still trying to understand the basics of the car.”
“Some weekends, the performance has been a bit more straightforward. Sometimes we have a few issues. But it’s an upward trend.”
He added that development races between teams could quickly change the competitive order.
“If someone comes with an upgrade and it’s two-tenths or three-tenths, it looks a bit different and so we have to take it race by race really.”
What has Max Verstappen said previously?
Verstappen has repeatedly stated that enjoying racing remains one of his biggest priorities and has previously indicated he would consider leaving Formula 1 altogether if he no longer found the sport fulfilling.
His latest comments, however, suggest his immediate attention is fixed on helping Red Bull return to winning ways rather than contemplating a move elsewhere.
With the Hungarian Grand Prix marking the final race before Formula 1’s summer break, Verstappen will be hoping Red Bull’s continued development can close the gap to the front-runners as the second half of the season approaches.
