Ramayana Controversy: Ranbir Kapoor has been all over the headlines lately courtesy of his upcoming movie. We are talking about Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana which features Ranbir playing the role of Lord Ram opposite Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravi Dubey as Laxman and Yash as Ravan. The makers had recently released the trailer of Ramayana which had left everyone brimming with an opinion and there have been constant comparisons between the Ramayana casts over the year. However, Ranbir has undoubtedly grabbed a lot of eyeballs for the role of Lord Ram and while many applauded his first look in the trailer, many believe that he is a miscast.
Amid this, actress Nikita Rawal sparked a fresh controversy after she called out Ranbir over his beef remark and stated that playing Lord Ram is a significant responsibility given the religious sentiments attached to it. Addressing Ranbir’s past comments about admitting having beef, Nikita during an interview with Bollywood Mascot stated that the Barfi actor playing Ram can hurt religious sentiments.
Nikita Rawal Calls Out Ranbir Kapoor
Nikita asserted, “This character is not for Ranbir Kapoor at all. Such a disgusting and characterless person, who eats beef and has said this publicly. What do you think that such a person will be able to understand the character of Rama? Giving this character to such a person, who is openly saying that he is eating beef, this is an insult to the faith, feelings and character of Rama”.
Nikita Rawal Demands Ranbir Kapoor’s Apology
Furthermore, Nikita demanded Ranbir’s apology and added, “He will have to apologise, because this is not just a question of his personal life; this is a question of the faith of crores of people”. She further emphasised that Ranbir should face a boycott if he doesn’t apologise. “Mujhe lagta hai iska boycott kar do. Main ye hashtag #boycottranbirkapoor chalati rahungi. Agar use lagta hai ki use galti hui hai ya fir is character ko karne se Pehle ya baad me jin logon ko thes pahunchi hai, unse wo maafi maange aur kahe ki galti hui hai”.

For the uninitiated, Nikital Tawal is a renowned actress in Bollywood and South film industry and also happens to be a a hotelier and NGO activist. The diva has featured in movies like Black & White with Anil Kapoor and Shefali Shah, Mr Hot Mr Kool and The Hero – Abhimanyu. Besides, Nikita is also a Kathak dancer and has represented India on National level.
Meanwhile, Ramayana, which also features Sunny Deol, Vivek Oberoi, Anupam Kher, Lara Dutta etc, is set to hit the theatres on Diwali 2026.
