Sunrisers Hyderabad continued their batting domination in IPL 2026 with another massive total as they defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 55 runs in Match 67 at Hyderabad.
Despite the defeat, RCB officially secured a top-two finish and will now face Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1. SRH, meanwhile, narrowly missed out on the top two and will now enter the playoffs through the Eliminator route.

SRH’s 220+ Fortress Remains Untouched
Hyderabad once again proved nearly unbeatable while defending massive scores. Their latest victory extended an astonishing unbeaten streak while defending 220-plus totals in IPL history.
SRH have now played 12 matches while defending scores above 220 and remarkably won all 12 of them. No franchise in IPL history has shown this level of dominance once crossing the 220-run mark.
The scoreboard pressure created by SRH’s explosive batting lineup continues to overwhelm opposition teams even on batting-friendly surfaces.
SRH Set Another Historic Batting Record
IPL 2026 has firmly established SRH as arguably the most destructive batting side the tournament has ever seen.
Their total of 255 against RCB marked the ninth instance of Hyderabad scoring 200-plus runs in a single IPL season – the most by any team in tournament history.
The previous joint record of eight 200-plus totals was held by Gujarat Titans in 2025, Punjab Kings in 2025 and 2026, while RCB themselves also reached eight 200-plus scores this season.
However, SRH have now moved into a league of their own with nine such totals.
Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Klaasen Continue the Carnage
The Hyderabad innings was powered by explosive half-centuries from Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen.
The trio dismantled the RCB bowling attack from start to finish and helped SRH post 255/4 – their second-highest total against Bengaluru after the famous 287/3 at Bengaluru during IPL 2024.
Ishan Kishan in particular continued his extraordinary dominance against RCB bowlers with yet another impactful knock. His consistency against Bengaluru has now become one of the most remarkable batter-versus-team trends in the IPL.
RCB Started Fast but Lost Momentum
RCB actually made a brilliant start to the chase and even outscored SRH during the powerplay. The aggressive approach from Venkatesh Iyer gave Bengaluru early momentum, but the loss of both openers inside the powerplay shifted the match significantly.
RCB needed 166 runs to officially confirm a top-two finish and comfortably crossed that mark despite falling well short of the overall target.
An important 84-run partnership between Rajat Patidar and Krunal Pandya kept Bengaluru alive in the chase.
Patidar marked his return to the XI with a half-century, although it was a relatively controlled innings by his standards as SRH’s bowlers refused to allow RCB sustained acceleration.
SRH Pacers Dominated With Smart Variations
One of the biggest tactical differences between the two bowling attacks was Hyderabad’s outstanding use of slower deliveries.
SRH pacers repeatedly disrupted RCB’s rhythm with change-ups and cutters. Their slower balls conceded runs at an economy rate of just 7.53, significantly lower than their other deliveries which went at over 10 runs an over.
The slower-ball execution became especially effective during the middle overs when RCB attempted to rebuild the innings.
In contrast, RCB pacers bowled only 20 slower deliveries during SRH’s innings and conceded 43 runs from them, highlighting the difference in execution between the two sides.
Another Massive SRH Win Over RCB
The 55-run victory also became Hyderabad’s second-biggest win over Bengaluru in IPL history in terms of runs.
Only their famous 118-run victory over RCB at the same venue in 2019 stands above this latest triumph.
SRH have consistently dominated RCB at Uppal whenever batting first, and IPL 2026 added yet another chapter to that trend.
Qualifier 1 History Now Favours RCB
While SRH missed the top-two advantage, RCB now enter Qualifier 1 with history strongly backing their title hopes.
Twelve of the last 15 teams to win Qualifier 1 have eventually gone on to lift the IPL trophy.
That statistic now places enormous importance on the upcoming clash between RCB and Gujarat Titans, with a direct place in the IPL 2026 final at stake.
