WTC 2027 Final Venue and Schedule Announced: Where and When will World Test Championship Final Take Place?

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the next destination for the World Test Championship final, which will take place in 2027.

The current WTC cycle started from 2025 and will conclude in 2027, and the apex body has now confirmed the destination for the 4th edition of the final.

Where and When will be the WTC 2027 Final?

ICC has confirmed that The Kia Oval in south London will host the final of the 2025-27 World Test Championship cycle, scheduled from June 9 to 13, 2027.

This marks the second time the iconic venue will stage the prestigious five-day showdown, having previously hosted the 2023 final where Australia defeated India. England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) retains hosting rights for the 2027, 2029, and 2031 editions following the ICC’s decision at its Annual General Meeting, citing the board’s strong track record in delivering high-quality events.

Lord’s Cricket Ground was overlooked this time due to concerns over pitch quality, including variable bounce and a recent demerit point. The Oval, praised for its reliable surfaces and history of hosting major matches, was selected as the preferred London venue. The announcement coincides with celebrations marking 150 years of Test cricket, adding extra significance to the occasion.

“We are honoured to be staging the next three ICC World Test Championship Finals in England and Wales, and we’re pleased to confirm that The Oval will play host again next year. The 2023 final at The Oval was a huge hit with broadcasters and fans, and I’ve no doubt that next year’s event will be extra special again,” ECB director Neil Snowball said.

As the current 2025-27 cycle progresses, Australia sits atop the standings, followed closely by South Africa and New Zealand. The top two teams after the league phase will contest the final in what promises to be a thrilling climax to two years of intense Test cricket.

New Zealand won the inaugural edition of the WTC final, while Australia and South Africa have won the last two editions. India, despite playing in two finals, are yet to taste success in this competition.
