Awarapan 2 Overseas Review: Emraaan Hashmi’s massive fan following across the world can’t keep calm today and the reason is quite obvious. After all, the talented actor, who was last seen in Haq opposite Yami Gautam, is now making headlines for his first release of 2026. We are talking about Awarapan 2 which is an action thriller helmed by Nitin Kakkar. Starring Emraan in the lead along with Disha Patani, Shabana Azmi and Suvinder Vicky, Awarapan 2 is the much talked about sequel to the 2007 release Awarapan.

For the Awarapan managed to carve a niche for itself with itself soulful numbers and performances and has been touted to be a classic despite its below average box office performance. Interestingly, Emraan will be reprising his role of Shivam Pandit in Awarapan 2. Given the nostalgia factor, high hopes have been pinned against Awarapan 2 and fans have been curious to know how the makers will justify Shivam’s story in the sequel. Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, a self proclaimed critic in London – Umair Sandhu – called Awarapan 2 a paisa vasool film. He gave the movie a rating of 3.5 stars and tweeted, “First Review #Awarapan2 from Censor Board! You need to have a strong stomach to absorb a film like Awarapan 2. It is dark, serious and violent. #EmraanHashmi gave Career Best Performance ever. He is Back with Bang. Climax & Music is the USP of film. PAISA VASOOL 🔥”.

On the other hand, a user from UAE & Pakistan called Awarapan 2 sensational. The user gave the movie a rating of 4.5 stars and tweeted, “The Childhood Nostalgic Love, #EmraanHashmi in his career-defining BLOCKBUSTER Soulful sequel (Awarapan). keeps the Originality and Emotions beautifully alive, and lived up to the Expectations!”
Meanwhile, talking to Variety India, Awarapan 2 writer Bilal Siddiqui spoke about the nostalgia attached to the film and said, “I am a big fan of the first part. I know the weight that this film holds emotionally for the fans and the factors that have made it a cult classic. Vishesh was clear that he wanted to take Shivam ahead as a character, since he is what makes ‘Awarapan’ work. We didn’t want to just patch on any story to the title and call it “‘Awarapan 2’. The story we landed eventually upon is a very organic way to carry his story forward”.
