BCCI Parts Ways With Ryan ten Doeschate; Subhadeep Ghosh To Succeed T Dilip As Fielding Coach

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided not to extend the contracts of assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate and fielding coach T Dilip, bringing an end to their stints with the Indian men’s cricket team.

Confirming the development, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said both support staff members completed their contractual terms earlier this year and continued only until the conclusion of India’s tour of the United Kingdom.

“Assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate’s two-year contract with the Indian men’s team ended on June 10. Fielding coach T Dilip, who was given a one-year extension after his original term ended, also had his contract ending on June 8,” the BCCI president said.

“The BCCI continued with the duo till the end of India’s tour of the United Kingdom. However, the BCCI is not giving them any extension. There is no question of accepting resignation as the contract has ended,” he added.

The BCCI is now in the process of appointing a new fielding coach ahead of India’s upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. While Saikia did not reveal the shortlisted candidates, he confirmed that discussions are underway.

“We are currently in talks with two to three names and expect to finalise the details within a day or two. India will have a new fielding coach for the tour of Sri Lanka,” he said.

Subhadeep Ghosh Likely To Succeed Dilip

According to sources, Subhadeep Ghosh, who has worked extensively with India’s women’s team, India A and at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), has emerged as the frontrunner for the role. Ghosh has been part of the BCCI’s high-performance system for the past six to seven years, dating back to Rahul Dravid’s tenure at the NCA.

Ten Doeschate joined the Indian coaching setup in 2024 as part of Gautam Gambhir’s support staff. Meanwhile, Dilip had received a one-year extension after his initial term but will now step down as the BCCI reshapes the national team’s coaching group ahead of the new international season.
