England captain Harry Brook has challenged his side to complete a 4-0 series sweep over India and climb to the top of the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings ahead of the fifth and final match in Southampton.
England wrapped up the five-match series with a game to spare after a dominant nine-wicket victory in the fourth T20I, with Brook and Phil Salt starring in a commanding chase.

England one win away from No.1
Brook smashed an unbeaten 79 off just 35 balls, while Salt contributed 59 from 42 deliveries as the pair shared a match-winning 146-run partnership to help England chase down the target with more than six overs to spare.
The victory secured the series, but England now have another milestone in sight.
A win in Southampton would see Brook’s side overtake reigning ICC Men’s T20 World Cup champions India to become the No.1 ranked men’s T20I team in the world.
Harry Brook targeting clean sweep
Speaking after the victory, Brook said England are determined to finish the job and secure both the series sweep and the top ranking.
“To beat India 4-0 would be a pretty special series win if I’m being honest. And to go No.1 in the world would be even better. That is our main aim. We want to go out there and try and beat them convincingly again,” Brook said.
The England skipper added that the dressing room is fully aware of what is at stake heading into the final game.
“We’ve been told if we win the next game, we go to world No.1 and that’s definitely a prize that we’re eyeing up.”
England pleased with execution
Brook acknowledged India’s quality despite their struggles throughout the series, crediting England’s execution for the comprehensive results.
“India are a strong side. They probably haven’t been as good in this series as they have been over the last couple of years, but we’re really happy with the way that we’ve executed our plans,” he said.
England will now look to complete a 4-0 series victory and claim the No.1 spot in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings when the two sides meet in the final T20I in Southampton on July 11.
